Former tennis star Brad Gilbert sells Bay Area mansion

Former tennis pro Brad Gilbert has sold his San Rafael, Calif. mansion for $4.5 million, below the $5.2 million asking price.

The 7,923 square foot home was originally built in 1904 but has undergone extensive renovations. It features five bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, a guest house and an artist studio among many other amenities. Perched high above on a hill, the Marin home has views from the bay to Mount Tamalpais.

The home’s red clay tennis course were reportedly training ground for top tennis stars. After a successful pro career, Gilbert has coached Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori. He is also a frequent tennis television commentator. Born in Oakland, Gilbert went to Piedmont High School.​​​​​​​
